Come join us for one of our favorite events of the year, the Georgetown Club of Northern California's Annual Hoya New Year Extravaganza! It will be held this year at Mission Rock Resort, a beautiful waterfront restaurant with views of the Bay just south of AT&T Park in the Mission Bay/Dogpatch neighborhood. Fresh off a 90-63 throttling of Kansas State, the Hoyas are facing the #10 VCU Rams on the final day of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament, and we'd love for you to join us at The Bus Stop for a Game Watch. Looking for some alum sports fun during the fall? NorCal Hoyas Bowling Team Returns!

Better Off Bowling is a co-ed social bowling league for young professionals that runs on Sunday afternoons during the fall. They have a bunch of young professionals along with a number of other school alum groups and usually have ~400 fun social people in the league. They've contacted us hoping we would be interested in getting a team or two together (does not have to be all alums though). Registration ends October 20, and the league starts rolling October 27
.

When: Six Sunday evenings October 27th-December 8th (Skip December 1st)
Time: Varries week to week, start times tentatively set for 5pm, 6:30pm and 8pm

Friday, August 30 at 2pm vs. Cal & Sunday, September 1 at 4pm vs. Stanford: #3-ranked Georgetown Hoyas men's soccer team plays two games in the Bay Area. Tickets available online and at the game (special group deal possible for the Stanford game, see below). Classes have started on the Hilltop, and the Georgetown men's soccer team, ranked 3rd in the country, is coming to the Bay Area for two games this weekend vs. Cal and Stanford! On Thursday, August 22 the Commonwealth Club of California will be hosting U.S. Secretary of Treasury, Jacob J. Lew (LAW '83), at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. Secretary Lew will discuss the state of the U.S. economy and the Obama administration's focus on accelerating growth, increasing job creation and strengthening the middle class. Previously, Lew served as White House chief of staff to President Obama and director of the Office of Management and Budget, a position he also held in President Clinton's cabinet from 1998 to 2001. His career also includes high level positions with Citigroup and New York University, and he helped design the Americorps national service program early in the Clinton Administration.

ZogSports SF looking for Georgetown teams for fall sports!

ZogSports has just announced their fall sports and we want to get some Georgetown alumni out there to play! This fall, they’re running volleyball, dodgeball, football, indoor soccer, and outdoor soccer all at Galileo Academy in the Marina.

To register just visit www.ZogSports.com/SF and click on the sport you’d like to play. There are two options when registering, Team and Individual.
  • Team: The full team price covers up to the first 12-15 roster members (depending on the sport). A full team is typically the cheaper per-person option and it also gives the captain control of the roster.
  • Individual: If you choose the individual option you’ll be placed on the same team with other free agents. If you’d like to play with other Georgetown alumni just put their name and emails in the Teammates section and/or include Georgetown in the comments section and ZogSports will team you up with other alumni who sign up.

July 19 Update: SF Giants Tailgate and Game, New Student Send-Off BBQ August 11

Hope everyone is having a great summer! We have our Giants game coming up this Sunday, and our New Student Send-Off BBQ right around the corner. Plus, thanks to everyone who participated in Hoya Professional Development Month activities last month!

Sunday, July 21, 11am-4pm: SF Giants Game and Tailgate
This Sunday's San Francisco Giants game and tailgate is sold out! Thank you very much to all those who purchased tickets, we're looking forward to having a great time.

If you were unable to purchase tickets or are on the waitlist, we encourage you to buy tickets to the game on your own and then join us for the tailgate! Standing room tickets are available on SFGiants.com, or you can buy tickets in a variety of sections on StubHub.com. If you'd like to be as close to the Hoya crew as possible, our tickets are in Section 333, Row 12, Seats 1-20. Then, buy your tailgate-only ticket here, and join us in the parking lot as we celebrate with food and drinks! Can't wait to see everyone!

Sunday, August 11, 11am-2pm: New Student Send-Off BBQ at Crissy Field
The NorCal Hoyas would like to honor the new Class of 2017 with a BBQ! We will be at the field above the Crissy Field Amphitheater in San Francisco, please click on the Eventbrite link to RSVP and for a map and general directions. The cost is FREE, and all new students, Georgetown alumni, and their family and friends are invited to join (a donation box will be available for those wishing to contribute to the Georgetown Club of Northern California).

Please bring your Hoya spirit, wear your blue and gray, dress warm (can be breezy and foggy in SF), and an appetite! If you have any questions about the event, as always, please e-mail us at norcalhoyas@gmail.com.
