January 5 & 8 | Basketball Game Watches vs. Marquette/Pitt!

Come join the NorCal Hoyas in the New Year as we watch our #15 Georgetown Hoyas kick off Big East play with two big matchups against Marquette and Pittburgh!

The game vs. Marquette is on Saturday, January 5, at 11am Pacific Time on ESPN Full Court.  The Game Watch will be at The Bus Stop (1901 Union St.), where there will be the usual Georgetown game specials: $2 off Bud Light buckets, $1 off the draft beer of the month.

DOWNTOWN GAME WATCH:  Then, the game vs. Pitt is on Tuesday, January 8 at 6pm Pacific Time on ESPNU.  Since we understand that it can be tough for many working Hoyas to make it to the Bus Stop in time for the early weekday tip-offs, we are hosting the first of hopefully more downtown Game Watches at Elephant & Castle in the Financial District (424 Clay Street).  You asked, and we want to deliver for you... Hope to see you there!

Important:  Because the Pitt game will be our first game watch at this location, please RSVP to norcalhoyas@gmail.com if you plan on attending, so we know what size of crowd we will be dealing with.  Also, we'll send you an e-mail with specific instructions as to where to find us once you're there!

December 9 | Georgetown men's soccer vs. Indiana for the National Championship on ESPNU!

The Hoyas have done it!  They knocked out Maryland in penalty kicks in a thrilling game, and now are going for their first ever national championship vs. Indiana.  Kick-off is at 11am Pacific Time and will be broadcast on ESPNU, or on ESPN3.com.

If you're in the Peninsula/South Bay, join former women's goalie Jade Higgins for a special Game Watch at the Patio in Palo Alto, 412 Emerson St.

LET'S GO HOYAS!  Let's bring the national championship trophy to the Hilltop!

Check out highlights from the win over Maryland here!

December 7 | Georgetown men's soccer vs. Maryland in College Cup on ESPNU!

Thanks to a 3-1 win over San Diego last Saturday, after which students stormed the pitch at North Kehoe, the Georgetown men's soccer has advanced to the College Cup (soccer's version of the Final Four) for the first time in program history.

Georgetown now faces local rival Maryland in the national semifinal in Hoover, Alabama. Game will be televised on ESPNU on Friday afternoon at 2pm Pacific Time. For those of you at work, it will also be available online on ESPN3. Let's Go Hoyas, beat the Terps!

November 19/20 | Georgetown vs. UCLA/Indiana Game Watches at The Bus Stop

Come out and watch your 2-0 Georgetown Hoyas take on the #11 UCLA Bruins in the semifinal round of the Legends Classic at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.  The game will be televised on ESPN2 on Monday night starting at 5pm Pacific Time.  How often do you get the chance to cheer on the Hoyas against a West Coast team?  As always, the official NorCal Hoya Game Watch location is The Bus Stop, at 1901 Union St.

Remember, the specials during ANY televised Georgetown men's basketball game at The Bus Stop are $2 off beer buckets, and $1 off the beer of the month (currently the Anchor Christmas Ale, to get you in the mood for the holiday season)!  Also, check out their Happy Hour and daily specials posted on the wall behind the bar.

UPDATE: The Hoyas beat the Bruins, 78-70!  They will now face #1 Indiana on Tuesday night on ESPN.  For all those who complain about those 4pm tip-offs, this one will start at 7PM PACIFIC TIME.  How convenient!  Come out to The Bus Stop to watch the game!  Hoya Saxa!

Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser at Brick Yard Recap

A big Hoya THANK YOU to everybody who came out to the Fundraiser for Hurricane Sandy victims hosted by Caitlin Morahan (MSB '06), on Thursday night November 15 at the Brick Yard.

For those who weren't able to make it but would still like to donate to the cause, please see the links below:

American Red Cross
Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund

A Message from Caitlin:

For those of you who do not know, I am originally from New Jersey and have spent almost every summer down the shore. I have family members who live all year round in Point Pleasant Beach and while they call themselves lucky that their homes are still livable, the devastation in their neighbors' backyards is so sad to see. Below is a video my cousins put together (excuse the language) that show the types of damages people are looking at.

Before the holidays kick off, I thought we could do our part to help NJ/NY out!

All the best,
Caitlin Morahan

November 18 | Pre-Turkey Day Hike in Marin Headlands

When: Sunday, November 18, 9:00am to 2:00pm (PST)
Where: Marin Headlands

Want to get out and stretch those legs and work off some extra calories before Thanksgiving? Want to see the beautiful headlands with your fellow Hoyas? Join the Georgetown Club of Northern California on a hike on Sunday, November 18th, 2012.

The plan is for an approximately 5 mile loop through the headlands on the famous Bobcat and Miwok trails. The hike itself should last about 2.5 hours of hiking time and we are planning on taking a 1/2 hour picnic lunch break. Below is a general description of the area we will be hiking

A few points
1. This hike, while not exceptionally strenuous, does have a significant amount of ascending and descending, please be prepared and know your limits.
2. The trail is in good condition but be sure to wear appropriate footwear (i.e. sneakers / hiking boots, NO flip flops).
3. The weather can change rapidly in the headlands and a sunny day can turn cold and foggy very quickly. Dress in layers, avoid cotton, and bring extra clothes.
4. Plan on brining a picnic lunch and plenty of water.
5. Children are absolutely welcome but be sure they are up for a full 3 hour adventure.
6. E-mail any questions or concerns, we'd prefer to address anything prior to getting on the trail.

Here is a website and directions to the Visitors Center where we will be meeting at 9:00 AM on Sunday November 19th.

An e-mail with the cell phone numbers of the trip leaders along with a weather contingency plan will be sent to all the RSVPs prior to the hike. Looking forward to seeing all the fellow Hoyas in the great outdoors!

Please RSVP at
http://www.eventbrite.com/event/4755809755# and we hope to see you there!
