What: Muir Woods Hike
When: Sat, November 7 - Family Hike: 9 AM; Young Alumni Hike: 11 AM
Join your fellow Hoyas for a hike through one of the Bay Area's most beautiful natural treasures, Muir Woods. Muir Woods National Monument is home to some of the most beautiful old growth coastal redwood trees in all of the Bay Area.
We will be joined by the intrepid Russ Watts, the Director of Outdoor Education at Georgetown University. Russ, is an accomplished outdoorsman who paid his way through college at UC-Davis guiding rock climbing trips for Mountain Adventure Seminars in the Sierras. We are excited to have Russ out to lead our local Bay Area alumni in the wilderness.
There will be two hikes:
Family Hike - Starting at 9 AM all of those interested in a family oriented hike in the Cathedral forest we will all meet next to the entrance / gift shop of the park. The National Park service will have a ranger on hand to give an introduction to the forest. At the conclusion of the introduction Russ Watts will lead the group through the forest. Plan on bringing snacks but a special treat will be provided.
