Save The Date | Jan 6 | Winter Career Fair

Time and Location TBD... we need your help!

Annually, during winter break, Georgetown Regional Clubs have an opportunity to host a Winter Break Career Event in their city. Alumni speak with students home for winter break about their career paths and offer career advice on their occupations and industries. Clubs have many options to make their event unique and special. This year the Georgetown Alumni Club of Northern California is trying to help our graduating Hoyas (Class of 2010) get a good feel for the types of careers here in the Bay Area. We are planning a round table discussion and looking for volunteers to serve on the "panel" to offer up these young folks a perspective into Bay Area careers. The club is working with the Career Center on getting this event finalized but also still needs a location. The club will provide light refreshments and coordinate the students but we need help securing a location and filling our panel.

Please email us if you would like to be involved by speaking about your career or you can offer a venue in which to hold this event.

Wine Tasting Recap and Photos

Thanks to everyone that came out to the Three Monkeys wine tasting event last week at the Ferry Building. We've heard lots of great feedback from the more than 200 attendees ranging from recent grads to alums from Classes in the '60s! Here's a recap.

Three Monkeys Wine was founded by three Georgetown classmates from the Class of 1988 who met in Darnall Hall - Frank Bellizzi (C'88), Jamie O'Hara (C'88, L'92), and Tom Van Leuven (C'88). We had a beautiful location inside a true San Francisco treasure, the Ferry Building. Overlooking the Bay, Treasure Island and the Easy Bay, our very own Jack McDonald (C'88, L'93), a 2009 recipient of the William Gaston award, secured the location.

Bellizzi and O'Hara were both on hand to pour their wines and share their story with the crowd. They sell directly to the customer at wholesale cost and give 10 percent to charities that support children in need. One of charities is for a co-founder of Three Monkeys, Tom Van Leuven's Children's Trust.

Frank asked us to thank those who attended and those who have already ordered. He was happy to report that our event accounted for one of their highest sales event to date! Nice work Hoyas!

If you're interested in ordering some wine you can also place your order online, by going to: www.threemonkeyswine.com. Thanks again for making this such a great event!

Mega-Event | Feb 21 | 2nd Annual Hoya Alumni at the Golden State Warriors - DETAILS NOW POSTED

aka. Jeff Green Game Watch (with Tailgate before the game)
Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 | Tailgate as of 3pm | Game starts at 7:30pm
ORACLE Arena - Oakland

For ticket information please scroll down

Here are the details and lineup for Saturday:

3:00 p.m. - Tailgating. We'll have hot dogs and burgers, and chips and drinks of all kinds so people can come early and mingle. Meet in Lot A on the North Side of the Coliseum. Map. When you enter the stadium parking lot, be sure to tell the attendant you're with "Georgetown Alumni". If you come before 4 pm, you should get in free (otherwise the standard parking rate of $15 applies). Look for a blue pathfinder with a Georgetown flag. If you are coming to the tailgate, please RSVP to gtown_alumni_norcal_treasurer@yahoo.com so we can be to sure to have the right amount of food and drink.

4:30-5:00 p.m. - Raffle. The Warriors will be stopping by our Tailgate to raffle off some items for us. Don't miss it!

6:00 p.m. SHARP - Courtside Shootaround. We'll meet at the North Entrance of the Arena by Parking Lot D for the shootaround. Go inside the doors and there will be a Warriors rep immediately inside the turnstile (right by Sections 121/122) who will take us down to the court to watch the shootaround. If you come later than 15 minutes after the doors open, you won't be able to participate in the shootaround, so please be on time! There will be no exceptions. If you're at the tailgate, we'll shut down and move over to the shootaround just before six.

6:45-7:30 p.m. - Find your seats, get drinks and food, etc.

7:30 p.m. - Gametime!

Some caveats from the Warriors about the shootaround:

- No backpacks or other large bags are allowed into the arena, for security reasons.
- No outside food or drink can be brought into the arena.
- No flash cameras or video cameras are allowed into the arena.
- When sitting courtside for the shootaround, everyone must stay in his or her seat for the entire half-hour.
- Autographs are not part of the program, unless a player takes it upon himself to come over to the group. Last year Jeff Green came to us, but we can't make any promises that this will happen again. We're certainly hoping it will though!
- Yelling at the players to try to get them to come over is not allowed.

Please note - - if you have tickets to the game by some other means (e.g., you're a season ticket holder), you can still enjoy any of the activities we've arranged. Just follow the directions posted and enjoy!

Here's to another great Club of Northern California event!!!

TICKETS
Please join us as we welcome former GU Hoops star Jeff Green to the Bay Area as he and his Oklahoma City Thunder come to town to play the Warriors. Through a special arrangement with the Warriors, you'll be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime event you won't want to miss (well maybe twice in a lifetime for all those who attended last year's amazing event!)

Last year's event was exceptional with more than 250 local alumni attending. We started tailgating in the parking lot and catching up on old times while we distributed some custom Georgetown Club of Northern California t-shirts. After being well taken care of by the Warriors hospitality staff we got to sit courtside for about 45 minutes while Jeff warmed up. Jeff not only came over into the Hoya crowd and hung out for 20-30 minutes signing autographs, signing some of those same custom t-shirts, taking pictures with the kids, he really made us proud to be Hoyas on so many levels.

Just like last year, tickets can be purchased via the new and improved "password link". Simply click on the link below and buy your tickets! Pretty easy and makes a great gift for any Hoya fan!
