Yuri's Night - sponsored by Kate McGunigal '03
I wanted to reach out to about an event that I am helping with called Yuri's Night, Bay Area. Yuri's Night is a celebration of space exploration—and mankind's curiosity, scientific ingenuity, technical achievements, and spirit of collaboration that have made it all possible. A major part of Yuri's Night is to engage people with cutting edge, forward-looking technologies, and this year's event focuses on sustainability and clean energy through the theme Radical Technology for a Sustainable Future. We're looking for interactive displays including technology demos, models, and prototypes. If your company or research group has technology to showcase or you know someone who does, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Yuri's Night, San Francisco Bay Area at a glance:

Who: 8000 participants and 200 VIPs;

We invite you to join our LinkedIn group (or search "NorCal Hoyas" under Groups), and take part in the networking and job discussions there. You can also post or search for job opportunities there.
We also encourage you to visit the Alumni Career Services section of the Georgetown Alumni website, Hoya Gateway, and the Alumni Career Network.
If you are a Georgetown alum who owns or manages a business or non-profit organization in the Bay Area, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, so we can add you to our list.
Finally, if you have any additional ideas for how to help Hoyas hire Hoyas in the Bay Area, please email us at email@example.com.
As soon as the doors to the Arena open, the group can come in and get their tickets scanned. A Warriors rep will be immediately inside the turnstile (outside sections 121-122), and will take the group down to watch warm-ups from courtside for 30 minutes. At the conclusion of the shoot around, we will bring the group back up to the main concourse, where you can get food or go to your seats for the game.
Some other very important points:
- No backpacks or other large bags are allowed into the arena, for security reasons.
- No outside food or drink can be brought into the arena.
- No flash cameras or video cameras are allowed into the arena.
- When sitting courtside for the shootaround, everyone must stay in his or her seat for the entire half-hour.
- Autographs are not part of the program, unless a player takes it upon himself to come over to the group.
- Yelling at the players to try to get them to come over is not allowed.
Sorry for all of the rules, but we need to let the players prepare for the game as they choose, they have to be followed. This will still be a lot of fun for the kids and the kid inside all of us, and will go very smoothly, if we follow these guidelines.
Please plan to wear a Georgetown T-shirt to show your support for Jeff Green. If you have one, please wear a gray GU shirt or pick up a new GU Club of Northern California shirt, specially designed for this game.
Festivities will kick off with an early, casual tailgate at 4:00 p.m. We’ll be parked in the A Lot, just outside of D Gate. This is the parking lot on the North side of the arena/coliseum.
If you are coming from BART, simply cross over the BART Bridge and then walk down the ramp on your right and follow the sidewalk around the coliseum until you get to D Gate. Then turn towards the parking lot and look for a white Georgetown flag next to a Silver Pathfinder. We''ll have plenty of Hoya paraphernalia, so you won't be able to miss us. We’ll hang out and tailgate until 5:10 p.m.
All other festivities start at 5:15 p.m. Below is the schedule of events:
- 5:15 p.m. - Arrive at the North Entrance of Oracle Arena where a Warriors rep. will meet the group and get bracelets distributed for early entry.
- 5:30-6:00 - GU Pre-game mixer in Club 200.
- 6:00-6:30 - We will usher the group from the mixer down to the Shoot Around. Please note the guidelines for the Shoot Around. Wave hello to Jeff Green. Yell Hoya Saxa! If people arrive at 6:00 for the Shoot Around, please follow the directions below.
- 6:30-7:30 - Get some food, hang out in the Arena, network with new and old friends.
- 7:30 p.m. - Play ball
If you can’t figure this all out for some reason, you can call Drew McGowan’s cell at (415) 637-5732.
