Come join us in our private space in the pack patio of Hoya-owned Lightning Tavern in the Marina, as we welcome new Hoyas to the City by the Bay! We can't wait for one of our favorite events of the year, and we have a killer one lined up for you this year. The drink specials for the event are $3 bottled beers, $4 well drinks, and $6 beer and a shot special: Bud Light plus Jameson or Fernet! We'll have appetizers available as well, and we'll give out raffle tickets for some great prizes.

The Georgetown Club of Northern California would like to welcome all alumni and friends to attend an exciting guest lecture night lead by Interim Dean of the School of Foreign Service, James Reardon-Anderson.

"The Rise of China as a Global Power"

Dean Reardon-Anderson will discuss how China views itself as a world power and how this impacts its relationship with the rest of the world.
Dean Reardon-Anderson has been a member of the Georgetown faculty since 1985, serving as director of Asian Studies (1992-1995); director of the Master of Science in Foreign Service program (2002-05); and dean of SFS-Qatar. Before coming to Georgetown, he served as director of the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies in Taipei (1980-81, 1988), chief librarian of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library of Columbia University (1982-85), director of the Committee on Scholarly Communication with the People's Republic of China (1990-92). He received his PhD. from Columbia University. Dean Reardon-Anderson is the Sun Yat-Sen Professor of Chinese Studies and author of five books on the history and politics of China.

That's right, Hoyas, we're doing TWO baseball tailgates this year! Come join us for a fun night of tailgating, baseball, and fireworks at the Coliseum in the East Bay as the A's take on the Angels (two of the best records in baseball). You can also join us the following week at AT&T Park in San Francisco to watch two more playoff contenders, the Giants and the Brewers, face off. For both games, we'll be doing a pre-game tailgate in the parking lot. NorCal Hoyas members have been e-mailed discount codes that will take $5 off the ticket price. CitySolve is a unique urban adventure that takes a lot of brain, a bit of brawn, and a ton of fun! More than a scavenger hunt, but less physical than a 5k-road race, this unique hybried combines trivia, from pop culture to world history, with a team-oriented adventure. Add in the occasional checkpoint challenge (think Double Dare without the slime) and you've got CitySolve Urban Race!
